I'm Three Weeks Old

Time is flying! Hazel is THREE weeks old. It's so crazy to think that I should still be pregnant with her when we already know her so well...she was so ready to be here. She is starting to look bigger to me. Her preemie pants are turning into capris and her preemie long sleeves have always looked like 3/4 sleeves because she has the longest arms ever. She has gained over half a pound since she was born and that's a lot when you are so tiny. Her hair is getting much lighter and her skin is getting a little browner. We still have no idea what color her eyes are going to be. They are still blue when you see them in natural light but they are pretty dark. She is just beautiful!!!!!!!!!

All in all, she's a fantastic baby. She gives me absolutely no trouble during the day and then all hell breaks loose at night : ) Are three week old babies really supposed to be able to party ALL night? Something happens around 10pm and she is ready to go! We have had several nights when our heads don't hit the pillow until about 5:30am. Her doctor said she should be staying awake for 1 hour out of every 10 hours. I'm not joking, she stays awake through several feedings which is many hours!!! She just amazes us in many ways.

I need to capture and post all of the many faces that she makes. My favorite is when she stretches! She arches her back, sticks her booty out with her hands above her head and scrunches her forehead while puckering her lips. It's unbelievably cute!

Hazel is a little gymnast. She was a busy body in my belly and she's even busier out in the world. We have to strap her into all of her bouncy seats and swings because she wiggles right out of them. She is no longer trusted on her Boppy pillow because I found her doing a back bend over it! If she doesn't push herself up over the top of it, she'll kick and move herself all the way off of it. Please note that all of these acrobatic moves were done while swaddled in a straight jacket (I'm the master swaddler). We have to leave her arms out of the blankets though because she flips out if she can't have them by her face. Oh, and yes...she rolls over! Sometimes Darryl and I feel like we don't have a newborn and we are raising a little person. She just has so much personality, throws temper tantrums and is just busy all the time. She has started fighting her car seat (ALREADY!). If she doesn't want to be in the car seat, she'll pull on the shoulder straps and arch her back. And, if she doesn't want her pacifier, she'll push your hand away when you try to give it to her.

Here she is laying on her Boppy pillow (it is covered with a blanket so she doesn't sink in the center).

And, here is what it looks like when you find your baby doing a back bend over her Boppy pillow. Where is her head??????
